This website is written almost entirely in PHP. There’s a bit of JavaScript on the client when I need it: a redirect here, an image there, that sort of thing.

A personal website doesn’t need anything more complicated, but some time ago I felt like refreshing my web development skills. I chose Vue.js for the experiment: a popular, fast, and fairly straightforward framework.

Here’s why I’m writing all this. I installed Node.js and Vue CLI, created my first project, and nearly went gray. Three hundred megabytes of JavaScript right out of the gate?! Seriously?!
